Roger Fatum is presently an adjunct professor at Kean University in the Criminal Justice Department. As well as senior partner in Explore the Challenge a behavior management consulting firm and has a psychology private practice.
Roger was the Director of Juvenile Services for a residential rehabilitation center in Missouri. It was Dr. Fatum’s expertise that got the agency their state certification and their juvenile component fully accredited. Roger developed and implemented many new programs that led the accreditation team to pronounce this program one of the best in the country.
Roger worked for the New Jersey Department of Corrections and the Juvenile Justice Commission for twenty-five years. During his tenure he was a teacher, counselor, housing-unit supervisor, program development specialist and special assistant to the Director of Juvenile Parole and Transitional Services. He was the Director of the Project O.P.T.I.O.N. program and was the Internship and Volunteer Coordinator.
In 1997 Roger started his own consulting firm, Explore the Challenge. His work has been in the areas of adolescent development, communications, mentoring and mediation. He has worked and trained students and professionals at the elementary, high school and college levels. He has worked with community agencies, courts, police departments, organizations and companies to provide classroom presentations, workshops and seminars. Through his work, Explore the Challenge, has taught constructive techniques in communication, mentoring, human development and working to deal with various types of problematic situations.
